This is an “objectively beautiful” photograph, if there is such a thing.  Colors, textures, details, framing.  It would probably catch your eye on social media. A tropical island, or maybe a Mediterranean tourist paradise?

If you live in the quiet mining-industry town of Alpena, Michigan* (pop. 10,000) on the shore of Lake Huron, this is an absolutely amazing photograph. It’s an I can see my house! moment. That makes this photo doubly attractive to certain people.

There are 13 shipwrecks in this photo. With different lighting you might see some of them below the surface.

If you’re from Chicago or Detroit and you vacation on Thunder Bay, or if your grandfather’s hunting cabin is near Alpena, it’s much the same. People love certain places.

4,300 sq. miles, 100+ shipwrecks from early explorers to modern freighters.

An avid SCUBA diver who lives in Asia might recognize the world-famous Thunder Bay Marine Sanctuary*, a bucket-list destination for shipwreck divers.

This photoprint would

250-square-mile area,
and elsewhere.
