The International Space Station

Astronauts, cosmonauts, and othernauts*
live “overseas” aboard the International
Space Station for six- or twelve-month
work assignments called Expeditions.

Expedition 23's crew of 13 was one of three times that so many were aboard at once.

Spending intense 48-hour workweeks
in a noisy, shared living/work space
the size of a four-bedroom hotel suite
shaped like a tube longer than a football field
with a group of friends and strangers
while weightless and possibly space-sick
is understandably stressful.

But at the end of a long day, their hotel has
the world’s best observation deck.
